Which Stage of Your Feng Shui Journey Are You In?

When people first discover Feng Shui, they usually come in one of two ways. Either a little skeptical and curious, or completely ready to rearrange every single piece of furniture in their home overnight.

I’ve been teaching Feng Shui for many years now, and one of the things I love most is watching people move through their journey with this practice. Because it IS a journey. You don’t just read one blog post, adjust your wealth corner, and suddenly everything is transformed. (Though sometimes the shifts can feel that fast and surprising!)

Over time, I’ve noticed that most people tend to move through three distinct stages in their Feng Shui practice. Each stage is valid. Each stage has its own gifts and growing edges. And knowing which one you’re in can help you get so much more out of this work.

So let’s dive in… which of these feels most like you right now?

Stage 1: The Awakening
“Wait… could this actually be real?”

This is where almost everyone begins. You’ve heard about Feng Shui, maybe from a friend, a social media post, or a random article you stumbled upon at midnight and something in you went, “Hmm. I’m not sure about this, but I can’t stop thinking about it.”

At this stage, you might be testing the waters. Maybe you’ve rearranged a corner of your home, added a plant, or cleared out some clutter. And then you waited. And maybe… just maybe… something shifted. A call came in. A tension in a relationship softened. A little bit of unexpected money showed up.

That moment of “wait, did Feng Shui just do that?” is exactly what Stage 1 feels like. And even if part of you is still skeptical, another part of you is paying very close attention.

What Stage 1 is about:

•  Opening your mind to the idea that your environment affects your energy

•  Experimenting with simple, low-risk changes

•  Noticing the small signs that this practice holds something real

If this is you… welcome! You are exactly where you need to be. The Feng Shui path has a way of finding you when you’re ready.

Stage 2: The Student
“I want to understand how this actually works.”

Once you’ve had a few undeniable experiences with Feng Shui, something clicks. You stop dabbling and start learning. This is one of my favourite stages to witness in my students, because this is where the real transformation starts to compound.

In Stage 2, you’re learning about the Bagua map. You’re understanding the Five Elements. You’re starting to see your home not just as a collection of rooms and furniture, but as a living, breathing energetic system that is in constant conversation with you.

You might be following annual Feng Shui updates, paying attention to the Flying Stars, and adjusting your space with intention and awareness. You’re no longer guessing. You’re applying a framework. And the results start to feel more consistent and more meaningful.

What Stage 2 is about:

•  Building a real foundation of Feng Shui knowledge

•  Applying principles across your whole home, not just one area

•  Seeking out teachers, deeper learning, and community

This is also the stage where people sometimes feel a little overwhelmed because the more you learn, the more you realise how layered and nuanced Feng Shui truly is. My advice? Go at your own pace. Depth over speed, every time.

Stage 3: The Integration
“Feng Shui is just how I live now.”

This is the stage that I personally love living in and the one I love guiding my students toward. Stage 3 is when Feng Shui stops being something you DO and becomes something you ARE.

At this stage, you naturally consider the energy of a space when you move into a new home or office. You make adjustments with the seasons and the annual energy cycles. You understand that your outer environment is a mirror of your inner world and you use that understanding to continuously support your growth, your abundance, and your wellbeing.

You might also be combining Feng Shui with other practices like mindset work, astrology, or manifestation because you’ve come to see that all of these are different doorways into the same truth: energy is everything, and we have more power to shape it than we were ever taught.

What Stage 3 is about:

•  Living and making decisions through an energetic lens

•  Combining Feng Shui with other holistic and abundance practices

•  Sharing what you know and inspiring others to begin their own journey

People in Stage 3 often become some of the most powerful advocates for Feng Shui, not because they’re trying to convince anyone of anything, but simply because their life reflects what’s possible when you truly align your environment with your intentions.

No Matter What Stage You’re In, You Belong Here

I want you to hear this clearly: there is no “better” or “more advanced” stage. Every person who is curious enough to open their mind to the energy of their space is doing something extraordinary — because most people never question whether their environment could be working FOR them or against them.

The fact that you’re reading this tells me you’re ready for more. Whether that means taking your first real step, going deeper into your learning, or fully integrating this practice into your life. I’m here for all of it.

So tell me… which stage resonates most with you right now? Drop it in the comments. I’d love to know where you are on your Feng Shui journey.
