In Feng Shui, there are three things that are really important in designing the layout of your home.
- The Door:
Where’s the location of the door? What is the direction of the door? Because that determines the energy that feeds the whole house.
- The Kitchen Stove:
The stove is symbolic of relationship and finances.
- The Bed:
The bed is your sim symbol of health and relationship. With the right bed placement, you can also activate money.
So after figuring out the best direction you should face when you sleep, you’re wondering “what does that mean?” Should you sleep with your face in the direction the whole night? What happens if you toss and turn, facing another way?
Yes, this can be very confusing. So when you’re sleeping in your bed, the sleeping direction is actually where your feet are pointing. All you have to do is lie down with your compass, and wherever your feet points to, that’s your sleep direction!
For this example, the man’s sleep direction is South.
Using the Head Board
You may have heard of Yin Feng Shui – or Gravesite Feng Shui.
In Yin Feng Shui, we look at the position of the headstone. They’ll put the compass against the tombstone to figure out what the facing is. They’ll tilt the facing of the headstone for the most auspicious direction.
Sounds pretty morbid right? But why am I saying all this? Because for the bed, the headboard is kind of like the headstone. You’re kind of, you know, OUT for the night. When I help my clients with bed placement, I put the compass against the headboard to see what is the facing of the headboard that it actually is. More work is needed, but it’s also better than just looking at where the person’s legs are pointing, the proper way is to actually to determine it from the headboard.
What if I don’t have a headboard?
The headboard is a really nice to have because then you can tweak the kind of energy that you want to receive when you’re sleeping. Easily shift the bed towards the direction you want to be hitting.
If you don’t have a headboard, your bed should still be propped against a solid backing – like a wall. So even if you don’t have a headboard, you still have the wall. You just don’t want to have your bed floating with no solid backing behind your head.
